Major surface antigen p30, Toxoplasma gondii (P30)

The Toxoplasma Surface antigen P30 (Toxo P30), also known as Surface antigen1 (SAG1), is encoded by the P30 gene. The P30 gene exists in the genome as a single copy and is highly conserved in different Toxoplasma strains, with only individual nucleotide differences between strong and weak strains. The molecular weight of P30 protein is about 30kDa, which is evenly distributed in the surface and interior of tachyzoite, accounting for 5% of the total protein of tachyzoite stage. The mature P30 protein does not contain the N-terminal signal peptide targeting the cell membrane and the hydrophobic C-terminal sequence. It is a tachyzoite phase specific antigen of Toxoplasma gondii and has been widely studied for its dual application value in diagnosis and vaccine.
