Nucleoprotein, CDV (NP)

Nucleoprotein(NP) is one of most abundant and highly immunogenic protein in Canine Distemper Virus(CDV). NP can form the helical nucleocapsid (NC) in a ratio of 1 N per 6 ribonucleotides, which protects the genome from nucleases. NC has a helical structure with either 12.35 or 11.64 N per turn, approximately 20 nm in diameter, with a hollow central cavity approximately 5 nm in diameter. NP is complex with the phosphoprotein protein P and forms encapsidation. The newly synthesized NP is called NO, which is free and be chaperoned by phosphoprotein protein P. Together with phosphoprotein protein P, NP is in the formation of viral factories.
