Abhydrolase Domain Containing Protein 14B (ABHD14B)
ABHD14B Belongs to the AB hydrolase superfamily. ABHD14 family. Has hydrolase activity towards p-nitrophenyl butyrate (in vitro). May activate transcription. Ubiquitous. Detected in spleen, thymus, prostate, testis, ovary, small intestine, colon, peripheral blood leukocyte, heart, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, pancreas and kidney.
The a/b hydrolase superfamily is comprised of diverse members that are involved in important biochemical processes and related to various diseases. They have unrelated sequences, various substrates, and different kinds of catalytic activities, yet they share the same canonical α/β hydrolase fold, which consists of an eight-stranded parallel a/b structure. They are also characterized by a catalytic triad composed of a histidine, an acid and a nucleophile.
