DEP Domain Containing Protein 5 (DEPDC5)
DEPDC5 Belongs to the IML1 family.DEP (Dishevelled, Egl-10, and Pleckstrin) domain found in dishevelled-like proteins. Dishevelled-like proteins play a key role in the transduction of the Wnt signal from the cell surface to the nucleus, which in turn is an important regulatory pathway for cellular development and growth. They contain an N-terminal DIX domain, a central PDZ domain, and a C-terminal DEP domain. DEPDC5 contains 53 different introns. Transcription produces 21 different mRNAs, 16 alternatively spliced variants and 5 unspliced forms. There are 8 probable alternative promotors, 6 non overlapping alternative last exons and 6 validated alternative polyadenylation sites. The mRNAs appear to differ by truncation of the 5' end, truncation of the 3' end, presence or absence of 21 cassette exons, overlapping exons with different boundaries.
