Strawberry Notch Homolog 1 (SBNO1)
Sbno1 was strongly expressed in the nucleus of the differentiating cortical neurons during the embryonic stages, whereas it exhibited cytoplasmic distribution in the mature neurons in the adult brain. To investigate the role of Sbno1 in neural differentiation, gain and loss of function experiments of Sbno1 was carried out employing the primary culture system of differentiating neuronal cells isolated from E14.5 mouse embryonic cortex. The effect of the Sbno1 RNAi was rescued by co-introduction of zebrafish sbno1. Overexpression of Sbno1 could significantly increase the number of neurons.Sbno1 can promote neuronal differentiation. Immunoprecipitation study confirmed binding between Sbno1 and Su(H) proteins. Sbno1 knockdown upregulated target genes of Notch signal, such as Hes1 and Hes5.
