60S ribosomal protein L37

Ribosomal Protein L37 (RPL37)
RPL37 encodes a ribosomal protein that is a component of the 60S subunit. The protein belongs to the L37E family of ribosomal proteins. It is located in the cytoplasm. The protein contains a C2C2-type zinc finger-like motif. As is typical for genes encoding ribosomal proteins, there are multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene dispersed through the genome. The deduced 97-amino acid RPL37 protein contains a single C2C2-type zinc finger domain, multiple potential serine/threonine phosphorylation sites, a potential histone methylation site, and potential N-glycosylation sites. RPL37 is basic, with a calculated pI of 12.6. The human RPL37 protein is identical to rat Rpl37. Northern blot analysis detected an approximately 375-bp RPL37 transcript in normal human liver and colonic epithelium.
