Zinc Finger, RNA Binding Motif And Serine/Arginine Rich Protein 1 (ZRSR1)
Hatada et al. (1991) isolated the imprinted mouse gene U2af1rs1 by restriction landmark genomic scanning. This gene is related to the human ribonucleoprotein auxiliary factor required for RNA splicing. Kitagawa et al. (1995) isolated 3 human homologs of mouse U2af1rs1.
One of these, U2AF1RS1, was mapped to 5q22 by fluorescence in situ hybridization. The predicted 479-amino acid protein is 92.1% identical to U2AF1RS2 and 78.8% identical to the mouse U2af1rs1 protein. In their Table 1, Kitagawa et al. (1995) presented DNA sequence analysis data which revealed higher similarity between the human U2AF1RS1 and U2AF1RS2 genes (94.6%) than that observed between the 2 mouse homologs (76.7%).
