Zinc Finger Protein 211 (ZNF211)
Becker et al. (1997) described the cDNA clone for a developmentally regulated human C2H2-type zinc finger and mapped it to chromosome 19 by PCR analysis of 2 human-rodent somatic cell hybrid panels. They designated the cDNA as C2H2-25. The map location on chromosome 19 was sublocalized by PCR amplification of a YAC library, which showed that the gene was contained on a YAC that also contained the marker D19S218, whose cytogenetic location had been determined to be 19q13.4. C2H2 zinc finger proteins comprise one of the largest families of proteins known, with an estimated 300 to 500 genes in the human genome (Bellefroid et al., 1989). Becker et al. (1997) isolated the C2H2-25 cDNA from a human hippocampus cDNA library. They stated that this gene, also symbolized ZNF211, is most related by sequence to ZNF132 and ZNF134, which also map to 19q13.4.
