Fc Fragment Of IgG Low Affinity IIc, Receptor (FcgR2C)
FCGR2C is 1 of 3 genes that encode isoforms of FCGR2, also known as CD32, a 40-kD glycoprotein that binds IgG with low affinity. FCGR2 is widely distributed, being expressed on myeloid and lymphoid cells, as well as nonhematopoietic cells. The FCGR2 isoforms exhibit differences in ligand binding specificities, and triggering through different isoforms results in distinct functions.
FCGR2C is expressed on monocytes, macrophages, and polymorphonuclear cells, and it appears to be the only FCGR2 isoform expressed on natural killer (NK) cells. Due to an allelic polymorphism, most individuals lack FCGR2C expression, although some express high levels of FCGR2C capable of triggering cytotoxicity by NK cells.FCGR2C bound heat-aggregated human IgG, but not human myeloma IgA.
