Glutamate Receptor, Ionotropic, N-Methyl-D-Aspartate Like Protein 1B (GRINL1B)
Glutamate receptors are the predominant excitatory neurotransmitter receptors in the mammalian brain and are activated in a variety of normal neurophysiologic processes. The classification of glutamate receptors is based on their activation by different pharmacologic agonists. Thus, 1 class, the NMDA receptors, have N-methyl-D-aspartate as an agonist. The ionotropic glutamate receptors play roles in the development and function of the mammalian brain. Roginski et al. (2001) isolated rat GRINL1 cDNA from a size-fractionated, directional rat brain cDNA library.
Mohan Raj et al. (2001) obtained human GRINL1B genomic DNA sequences by amplification with primers designed from rat Grinl1a sequences.Mohan Raj et al. (2001) determined that the GRINL1B gene is intronless.By FISH, Mohan Raj et al. (2001) mapped the GRINL1B gene to chromosome 4q12.

Organism species: Homo sapiens (Human)
