Peptidylglycine Alpha Amidating Monooxygenase COOH Terminal Interactor (PAMCI)
Using the cytosolic domain of PAM as bait in a yeast 2-hybrid screen of a rat cDNA library, Chen et al. (1998) cloned Pamci, which they called Pcip1. By database analysis, they identified human PCIP1, which encodes a deduced 435-amino acid protein that shares 85% amino acid identity with rat Pcip1. Northern blot analysis detected rat Pcip1 in testis, kidney, skeletal muscle, liver, lung, brain, and heart. RT-PCR also showed expression in pituitary gland, adrenal gland, and ovary. Fluorescence-tagged human PCIP1 was detected in vesicles adjacent to nuclei of transfected cells. Colocalization of PCIP1 with SCAMPs, internalized transferrin (TF), and RAB11 in the perinuclear region suggested that PCIP1 is associated with recycling endosomes.
