SYS1 Golgi Localized Integral Membrane Protein Homolog (SYS1)
SYS1 forms a complex with ADP-ribosylation factor-related protein ARFRP1 and targets ARFRP1 to the Golgi apparatus. SYS1 as a deduced 194-amino acid protein containing 4 predicted transmembrane domains.
SYS1 is localized to the Golgi and arranged with its C terminus in the cytosol, consistent with immunofluorescence localization of S. cerevisiae Sys1 to the plasma-membrane side of the Golgi.human SYS1 plays a role in the intracellular distribution of ARFRP1, and that the ARFRP1 N-terminal helix is required for this function. Chemical crosslinking and coimmunoprecipitation studies demonstrated SYS1-ARFRP1 interaction and formation of a protein complex.SYS1 forms a complex with the N-terminal acetylated form of ARFRP1, and then targets ARFRP1 to the Golgi.

Organism species: Homo sapiens (Human)
