SWI/SNF Related, Matrix Associated Actin, Dependent Regulator Of Chromatin, A Containing DEAD/H Box (SMARCAD1)
SMARCAD1 is a member of the SNF subfamily of the helicase protein superfamily that binds to transcriptional start sites of many genes involved in transcriptional regulation.
The deduced 1,027-amino acid protein has a calculated molecular mass of 117 kD and contains all 7 conserved motifs of the SNF2 family, including 2 DEAD/H boxes, a bipartite nuclear localization signal, a homeobox, and 2 leucine zipper motifs. Dot-blot mRNA analysis of human tissues detected ubiquitous SMARCAD1 expression, with highest levels in endocrine tissues, lung, colon, and placenta and abundant expression in adult hematopoietic tissues (spleen, thymus, and lymph nodes) and in all fetal tissues. Northern blot analysis confirmed ubiquitous expression.
