Tripartite Motif Containing Protein 41 (TRIM41)
TRIM41 belongs to a family of tripartite motif (TRIM) proteins defined as containing a RING finger, one or more B-box domains, and a coiled-coil region. TRIM41 gene contains at least 5 exons with alternative splicing of exons encoding the C-terminal region of the isoforms.
The 2 isoforms have identical N termini and divergent C termini. Both contain a PRY motif, a partial RING domain, a type 2 B-box, and a coiled-coil motif. TRIM41-alpha contains a partial SPRY motif in the C terminus. Northern blot analysis detected ubiquitous expression of 2 major transcripts: a 4.2-kb transcript, corresponding to the alpha isoform, and a 3.3-kb transcript, corresponding to the beta isoform; the latter showed highest expression in testis.
