U3 Small Nucleolar Ribonucleoprotein 14, Homolog C (UTP14C)

[Edit]

U3 Small Nucleolar Ribonucleoprotein 14, Homolog C (UTP14C)
The deduced UTP14B protein shares 65% amino acid identity with mouse Utp14b and 90% identity with human UTP14A. RT-PCR showed that the mouse Utp14b gene was expressed only in testis, and the authors found that expression of human UTP14A was also restricted to testis.
UTP14B contains three 5-prime noncoding exons, followed by a large terminal coding exon. There are 2 promoter regions upstream of exon 1, and the farthest upstream promoter is identical to a promoter associated with chicken U1 small nuclear RNA genes. The mouse Utp14b gene contains 3 exons and spans 9.1 kb. Only exon 3 is protein encoding, and there are 2 upstream promoters. In humans, a UTP14B pseudogene resides on the orthologous region of chromosome 2, and the functional UTP14B gene is located on chromosome 13.

Organism species: Homo sapiens (Human)
