Leucine Rich Repeat And Fibronectin Type III Domain Containing Protein 5 (LRFN5)
The deduced mouse Lrfn5 protein contains 719 amino acids. Northern blot analysis of adult mouse tissues detected Lrfn5 expression exclusively in brain. In situ hybridization in mouse embryos demonstrated weak Lrfn5 expression in the outer layer of the telencephalic vesicles at embryonic day (E) 11.5 and cortical plate expression at E17.5 At adult stage, Lrfn5 was strongly expressed in the pyramidal layer and dentate gyrus of the hippocampus, suggesting that Lrfn5 expression is limited to mature nervous tissue. Using epitope-tagged Lrfn5, Lrfn5 protein is glycosylated, tethered to the cell surface, and concluded that Lrfn5 is a type I transmembrane protein with the N-terminal end on the cell surface.unlike other Lrfn family members, Lrfn3 and Lrfn5 did not interact with PSD95 (DLG4).
