Reticulon 4 Receptor Like Protein 2 (RTN4RL2)

NGRH1 shares 45% similarity with NGR and 52% similarity with NGRH2 (RTN4RL1). Northern blot analysis detected a 2.4-kb NGRH1 transcript, with highest expression in brain and liver, and much lower expression in other tissues examined. Probing a brain multitissue array revealed NGRH1 highly expressed in all cerebral cortex regions, in amygdala, hippocampus, and accumbens nucleus. Weaker or no expression was detected in other brain regions. In situ hybridization of rat brain detected Ngrh1 in several cortical layers, in neurons of the hippocampus, and in large cell bodies typical for pyramidal neurons. Digestion with phospholipase C confirmed that NGRH1 has a GPI anchor, and sucrose density fractionation of transfected Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells demonstrated the association of human NGRH1 with lipid rafts.
