THAP Domain Containing Protein 8 (THAP8)
By searching databases, Roussigne et al. (2003) identified several proteins containing an N-terminal THAP domain, including THAP8. The THAP domain of the deduced 274-amino acid THAP8 protein includes a C2CH signature, an AVPTIF box, and several other conserved amino acids.
Hartz (2009) mapped the THAP8 gene to chromosome 19q13.12 based on an alignment of the THAP8 sequence with the genomic sequence.
The THAP domain includes a C2CH signature, an AVPTIF box, and several other conserved amino acids. It appears to be restricted to animal proteins and shows similarity to a DNA-binding domain of Drosophila P element transposase.

Organism species: Homo sapiens (Human)
