POTE Ankyrin Domain Family, Member D (POTED)
POTE gene contains 11 exons and spans about 32 kb.The deduced 584-amino acid protein has a calculated molecular mass of 66.4 kD. POTE contains 5 to 7 ankyrin repeats; a putative transmembrane region, which is in between, and partly overlaps with, ankyrin repeats 5 and 6; and an alpha-helical C terminus. RT-PCR and multitissue dot blot analysis detected robust expression in prostate and testis and weak expression in placenta and ovary. Northern blot analysis detected a 2.0-kb transcript in prostate and testis. POTE was also expressed in a leukemia cell line and in an androgen-responsive prostate cancer cell line; it was not detected in an androgen-unresponsive prostate cancer cell line. In situ hybridization detected a POTE transcript expressed in the basal and terminal epithelial cells of normal prostate epithelium and in prostate cancer cells.

Organism species: Homo sapiens (Human)
