Zinc Finger Protein 750 (ZNF750)
Birnbaum et al. (2006) identified the ZNF750 gene in a search for mutations causing a seborrhea-like dermatitis with psoriasiform elements in an Israeli Jewish Moroccan family. The 723-residue ZNF750 protein includes a nuclear localization site at the 5-prime end and a conserved C2H2 zinc finger domain beginning at amino acid 25. RT-PCR detected expression in skin, prostate, lung, placenta, thymus, and minimally in T cells, but not in peripheral blood leukocytes, pancreas, or brain. ZNF750 is clearly expressed in primary human keratinocytes but not in fibroblasts.
Real-time PCR using primers common to the mutant and wildtype ZNF750 transcripts showed that keratinocytes of affected individuals had roughly 2-fold higher levels of ZNF750 transcript compared to controls.
