Prostate And Testis Expressed Protein 1 (PATE1)
The cysteine-rich PATE protein contains 127 amino acids, including a phospholipase A2 motif at its C terminus, and has a molecular mass of 14 kD. The amino acid sequence of PATE shows structural similarities to a group of proteins known as 3-finger toxins, which includes the extracellular domain of the type I transforming growth factor-beta receptor (TGFBR1). Northern blot analysis detected a 1.5-kb transcript in prostate and testis. In situ hybridization showed that PATE mRNA is expressed in the epithelial cells of prostate cancers and in normal prostate. Cell fractionation analysis revealed that the PATE protein is localized in the membrane fraction of the cell. The restricted expression of PATE makes it a potential candidate for immunotherapy of prostate cancer.PATE gene contains 5 exons and spans 3.5 kb. Promoter analysis identified a TATA box and 3 potential androgen response elements.

Organism species: Homo sapiens (Human)
