By genomic sequence analysis, Katoh and Katoh (2005) mapped the EFHA2 gene to chromosome 8p22 in a head-to-head orientation with the FGF20 gene. The interval between the genes is approximately 25 kb. Katoh and Katoh (2005) determined that the FGF20-EFHA2 locus and the FGF9-EFHA1 locus on chromosome 13q12.11 are paralogous regions within the human genome. Human FGF20 gene was linked to EFHA2 gene in head-to-head manner with an interval of about 25 kb. FGF20-EFHA2 locus at human chromosome 8p22 and FGF9-EFHA1 locus at human chromosome 13q12.11 were paralogous regions (paralogons) within the human genome.
