Family With Sequence Similarity 107, Member A (FAM107A)
A 3.0-kb transcript was predominant, and only the spleen strongly expressed an additional 3.5-kb transcript. By Northern blot analysis, no expression of TU3A was found in 5 RCC cell lines tested; by RT-PCR, expression was detected in 3 of 5 cell lines. No genetic alterations were found in the cell lines or in 38 primary RCC tumors.Northern blot analysis detected ubiquitous expression of a 3.5-kb transcript, with highest expression in brain and moderate expression in kidney. Loss of expression of the gene was found in 8 of 8 RCC cell lines, 1 of 7 ovarian cancer cell lines, 1 of 1 cervical cancer cell line, 1 of 1 gastric cancer cell line, and 1 of 1 nonsmall cell lung cancer cell line. Southern blot analysis detected no gross structural changes or deletions. Reduced expression was also found in 23 of 34 primary RCC tumors.
