DDB1 And CUL4 Associated Factor 5 (DCAF5)
A translocation is commonly seen in benign smooth muscle tumors such as uterine leiomyoma. Lynch et al. (1998) characterized the chromosome 14 side of a t(12;14) translocation breakpoint from a leiomyoma primary culture. The chromosome 14 breakpoint occurs in a breakpoint cluster region (BCR). In this cluster region, Lynch et al. (1998) identified 4 genes: REC2 (RAD51L1), cytoskeletal alpha-actinin (ACTN1), D14S1460E (BCRP1), and D14S1461E (BCRP2). Northern blot analysis detected BCRP2 expression in all human tissues tested.
BCRP2 and the other 3 genes identified by Lynch et al. (1998) in the chromosome 14 breakpoint region were located at 14q24.1-q24.2. BCRP1 was later found to be a pseudogene.
