HPR1; P84; P84N5; Nuclear matrix protein p84

THO Complex Subunit 1 (THOC1)
HPR1 is part of the TREX (transcription/export) complex, which includes TEX1, THO2, ALY, and UAP56.The predicted protein contains 657 amino acids and is conserved from yeast to humans.
Immunoblot analysis showed expression of an 84-kD protein. Confocal microscopy demonstrated a nuclear matrix localization, specifically as speckles in the RNA-processing centers. Northern blot analysis revealed expression of a 2.1-kb transcript. Immunoprecipitation analysis of mouse tissues and human cell lines indicated ubiquitous expression of p84 and RB1, suggesting a role in regulating a basic function.TREX complex is specifically recruited to the transcribing gene and travels with the polymerase during transcriptional elongation.
