V-Yes-1 Yamaguchi Sarcoma Viral Oncogene Homolog 1 (YES1)
YES1 is the cellular homolog of the Yamaguchi sarcoma virus oncogene. The encoded protein has tyrosine kinase activity and belongs to the src family of proteins. This gene lies in close proximity to thymidylate synthase gene on chromosome 18, and a corresponding pseudogene has been found on chromosome 22.
The other 5 fragments could not be mapped either because hybridization signals were too weak or differentiation from mouse YES fragments was impossible. There was evidence for multiple copies of YES-related genes in the human genome, but only a single RNA species, 4.8 kb long, was found. At least 3 of the human YES gene copies had both introns and exons and 1 gene copy appeared to be a pseudogene.
