Zinc Finger, FYVE Domain Containing Protein 1 (ZFYVE1)
The FYVE domain mediates the recruitment of proteins involved in membrane trafficking and cell signaling to phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate (PtdIns(3)P)-containing membranes.ZFYVE1 encodes a protein which contains two zinc-binding FYVE domains in tandem. This protein displays a predominantly Golgi, endoplasmic reticulum and vesicular distribution. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene, and they encode two isoforms with different sizes. The predicted 777-amino acid hydrophilic cytoplasmic protein contains an N-terminal zinc finger domain, an ATP/GTP-binding site, and 2 C-terminal FYVE domains that have 70 amino acids and share 53% identity. Northern blot analysis of cultured cells with some resemblance to BMSCs detected highest expression in fibroblasts.
