BTB/POZ Domain Containing Protein 1 (BTBD1)
The C-terminus of the protein encoded by this gene binds topoisomerase I. The N-terminus contains a proline-rich region and a BTB/POZ domain, both of which are typically involved in protein-protein interactions.
The deduced 482-amino acid protein has a calculated molecular mass of 52.7 kD and contains an N-terminal BTB protein-protein interaction motif. BTBD1 shares 98% amino acid similarity with mouse Btbd1, as well as significant similarity with partial rat and bovine orthologs. It shares 82% amino acid identity with a partial BTBD2 .Northern blot analysis detected ubiquitous expression of a major 3.2-kb transcript, with highest expression in heart and skeletal muscle. A secondary transcript of 2.4 kb was weakly expressed in heart and skeletal muscle.
