Zinc Finger, BED-Type Containing Protein 1 (ZBED1)
ZBED1 as a pseudoautosomal gene with a functional homolog on the Y chromosome. By PCR of teratocarcinoma cell line cDNA libraries, they obtained a full-length TRAMP cDNA. The putative 694-amino acid TRAMP protein shares sequence similarity with transposases of the Ac family.
Moreover, TRAMP shares similarity with Drosophila Dref, a transcriptional regulatory factor that specifically binds the promoter-activating element DNA replication-related element (DRE) of DNA replication-related genes. Northern blot analysis detected a 5-kb TRAMP transcript in all human tissues examined, with highest levels in skeletal muscle and heart. RT-PCR confirmed that TRAMP escapes X inactivation.

Organism species: Homo sapiens (Human)
