Oligonucleotide/Oligosaccharide Binding Fold Containing Protein 2A (OBFC2A)
Single-stranded DNA (ssDNA)-binding proteins, such as OBFC2A, are ubiquitous and essential for a variety of DNA metabolic processes, including replication, recombination, and detection and repair of damage (Richard et al., 2008).By database analysis, Richard et al. (2008) identified OBFC2A, which they called SSB2. The deduced 204-amino acid protein contains a conserved N-terminal oligonucleotide/oligosaccharide-binding fold.Richard et al. (2008) reported that the OBFC2A gene maps to chromosome 2q32.3.The CST complex immunoprecipitated telomeric DNA, but not Alu repeat DNA, from HeLa cells. Only a fraction of telomeres associated with the CST complex, and association of the CST complex with telomeres did not vary during the cell cycle.
