SURP And G Patch Domain Containing Protein 2 (SUGP2)
SFRS14 encodes a deduced 1,083-amino acid protein with an estimated molecular mass of 120.2 kD. Both SF4 and SFRS14 contain 2 SURP motifs and a single G-patch domain in their C termini. SFRS14 also contains an arginine/serine-rich N terminus, suggesting that it is a novel member of the SR-related family of pre-mRNA processing factors. The mouse Sfrs14 protein shares an identical domain organization and 73% sequence identity with its human counterpart. RT-PCR identified SFRS14 expression in adult skeletal muscle and brain.SFRS14 gene contains 12 exons and spans 41.2 kb. SFRS14 undergoes alternative 3-prime end processing. The largest SFRS14 transcript lacks exon 11, which constitutes the first 103 basepairs of the 3-prime UTR.
