AT-Rich Interactive Domain Containing Protein 3A (ARID3A)
ARID3A encodes a member of the ARID (AT-rich interaction domain) family of DNA binding proteins. It was found by homology to the Drosophila dead ringer gene, which is important for normal embryogenesis. Other ARID family members have roles in embryonic patterning, cell lineage gene regulation, cell cycle control, transcriptional regulation, and possibly in chromatin structure modification.
The predicted protein is 79% identical to mouse Bright. The DNA-binding domain of DRIL1 is highly conserved, sharing 97% and 79% identity with the DNA-binding domain of Bright and DRI, respectively. Northern and dot blot analyses revealed that DRIL1 was expressed as a 4.4-kb mRNA in all tissues tested.
