Bromodomain Adjacent To Zinc Finger Domain Protein 2A (BAZ2A)
The bromodomain is a structural motif characteristic of proteins involved in chromatin-dependent regulation of transcription. In most cases, the bromodomain is associated with another common motif. The BAZ2A gene belongs to a novel bromodomain family identified by Jones et al. (2000) in which the bromodomain is adjacent to a PHD finger. For additional background information on the BAZ gene family.
By Northern blot analysis, Jones et al. (2000) detected 9.5- and 7.0-kb BAZ2A transcripts at moderate levels in most tissues analyzed. By somatic cell hybrid and radiation hybrid analyses, Jones et al. (2000) mapped the BAZ2A gene to chromosome 12q24.3-qter.
