Bromodomain Adjacent To Zinc Finger Domain Protein 2B (BAZ2B)
The bromodomain is a structural motif characteristic of proteins involved in chromatin-dependent regulation of transcription. In most cases, the bromodomain is associated with another common motif. The BAZ2B gene belongs to a novel bromodomain family identified by Jones et al. (2000), in which the bromodomain is adjacent to a PHD finger. By Northern blot analysis, Jones et al. (2000) detected 9.5- and 6.5-kb BAZ2B transcripts. The larger transcript was present at varying levels in several tissues, whereas the smaller transcript was expressed specifically in testis.By somatic cell hybrid and radiation hybrid analyses, Jones et al. (2000) mapped the BAZ2B gene to chromosome 2q23-q24.
