Ras Association Domain Containing Protein 5 (RASSF5)
RASSF5 is a member of the Ras association domain family. It functions as a tumor suppressor, and is inactivated in a variety of cancers. The encoded protein localizes to centrosomes and microtubules, and associates with the GTP-activated forms of Ras, Rap1, and several other Ras-like small GTPases. The protein regulates lymphocyte adhesion and suppresses cell growth in response to activated Rap1 or Ras.
The deduced 418- and 265-amino acid proteins have a C-terminal RA domain, and the longer isoform also has an N-terminal cysteine-rich diacylglycerol/phorbol ester-binding domain. NORE1 is 61% similar to RASSF3 and 94% identical to mouse Nore1. NORE1 transcript in all normal tissues tested, with little or no expression in cancer cell lines.
