Coiled Coil Domain Containing Protein 88C (CCDC88C)
Based on in silico analysis, Simpson et al. (2005) found that CCDC88C, which they called HKRP2, encodes a deduced 2,028-amino acid protein with sequence similarity to HKRP1.
The deduced 2,009-amino acid protein was high in leucine residues, leading the authors to name the protein Daple. the C terminus of Daple was necessary for binding to the PDZ domain of Dvl. When expressed in mouse fibroblasts, Daple inhibited Wnt3a-induced accumulation of beta-catenin as well as the Wnt3a-dependent activation of T-cell factor (Tcf) transcription. Daple expression in Xenopus embryos inhibited axis formation, another process regulated by the Wnt signaling pathway.
