Fibronectin Type III Domain Containing Protein 1 (FNDC1)

[Edit]

AGS8; Activation-associated cDNA protein; Expressed in synovial lining protein

Fibronectin Type III Domain Containing Protein 1 (FNDC1)
Ags8 was induced in response to rat ventricular ischemia, but not tachycardia, hypertrophy, or failure. Hypoxia induced Ags8 mRNA in isolated adult ventricular cardiomyocytes, but not in rat aortic smooth muscle cells, endothelial cells, or cardiac fibroblasts. The bioactivity of Ags8 was independent of guanine nucleotide exchange by G protein-alpha. Ags8 appeared to interact directly with the G protein-beta and -gamma subunits to promote G protein signaling.expression in heart, lung, skeletal muscle, kidney, pancreas, ovary, spinal cord, and fetal liver, low expression in spleen, testis, and adult and fetal brain, and no expression in liver. Within specific brain regions, expression was moderate in caudate nucleus and low in corpus callosum and substantia nigra, with little to no expression in all other regions examined.
