Femoral Artery Endothelial Cells (FAEC)

Femoral artery endothelial cells were isolated from femoral artery tissue. The femoral artery is shallow in the midpoint of the groin and can be felt to beat, which is the site of clinical emergency compression and hemostasis and puncture. Femoral endothelial cells are a single layer of cells covering the inner surface of the femoral artery. The endothelial cell, or endothelium, is a thin layer of specialized epithelial cells made up of a flat layer of cells. It forms the inner wall of blood vessels and is the interface between blood and other blood vessel walls (single squamous epithelium) in the vascular lumen. Endothelial cells are found along the entire circulatory system, from the heart down to the smallest microvessels. Endothelial cells (ECs) are an essential component of the blood vessels that make up the vascular system, promoting blood flow and regulating permeability, angiogenesis, inflammatory response, and maintaining homeostasis in the body. The endothelial cells of the femoral artery form the inner wall of the artery and are continuously affected by the shear stress of the blood flow. Under shear stress, endothelial cells secrete different endothelial factors, which affect the contraction and growth of blood vessels. Aortic endothelial cells also control and precisely regulate inflammatory responses and tissue fibrosis by regulating the expression of cell adhesion molecules. Primary femoral artery endothelial cells cultured in vitro can effectively help researchers study the mechanism of endothelial dysfunction, the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and other diseases, and develop new therapeutic methods.
