Golgi Reassembly Stacking Protein 2 (GORASP2)

[Edit]

GOLPH6; GRASP55; GRS2; p59; Golgi phosphoprotein 6; Golgi reassembly-stacking protein of 55 kDa

Golgi Reassembly Stacking Protein 2 (GORASP2)
The deduced protein contains 454 amino acids and has a calculated molecular mass of 55 kD. Northern blot analysis detected Grasp55 expression at variable levels in all rat tissues examined. Cryoelectron microscopy revealed that Grasp55 was expressed on the medial Golgi in transfected HeLa cells.
Blzf1 interacts with Grasp55 and with the GTP-bound form of Rab2, but not with other Golgi Rab proteins. They concluded that Grasp55 and Blzf1 form a Rab2 effector complex on medial Golgi essential for normal protein transport and Golgi structure.recombinant rat Grasp55 and antibodies to the protein blocked the stacking of Golgi cisternae in a cell-free system.
