ATP/GTP Binding Protein 1 (AGTPBP1)
NNA1 is a zinc carboxypeptidase that contains nuclear localization signals and an ATP/GTP-binding motif that was initially cloned from regenerating spinal cord neurons of the mouse.Within a conserved C-terminal region of approximately 300 amino acids, NNA1 and nna1 share 96% identity. In cultured murine neurons, transient transfection with a green fluorescent protein (GFP)-nna1 fusion protein showed that nna1 is present in both the nucleus and the cytoplasm. Human NNA1 encodes a protein containing an ATP/GTP-binding motif of the P-loop type, a leucine zipper, a nuclear localization signal, a zinc carboxypeptidase signature, and a nucleotide-binding site. NNA1 also contains multiple canonical phosphorylation sites for protein kinase C, casein kinase II, and cGMP/cAMP-dependent kinases.
