Histidine triad proteins, such as HINT2, are nucleotide hydrolases and transferases that act on the alpha-phosphate of ribonucleotides).Brenner (2002) stated that HINT2 encodes a deduced 163-amino acid protein that contains 35 additional N-terminal amino acids compared with HINT1.
Brenner (2002) stated that the HINT2 gene maps to chromosome 9p11.2.Lima et al. (1996) noted that the PKCI1 protein interacts with the regulatory domain of PKC-beta in the yeast 2-hybrid system. In the same system, PKCI1 also interacts with the ataxia-telangiectasia group D protein, which is mutant in ataxia-telangiectasia.
