Inhibitor Of Growth Family, Member 5 (ING5)
ING5 is similar to ING1, a tumor suppressor protein that can interact with TP53, inhibit cell growth, and induce apoptosis. This protein contains a PHD-finger, which is a common motif in proteins involved in chromatin remodeling. This protein can bind TP53 and EP300/p300, a component of the histone acetyl transferase complex, suggesting its involvement in TP53-dependent regulatory pathway.
ING5 was associated with 2 different histone acetyltransferase complexes, one containing HBO1 (MYST2) and the other containing MOZ (MYST3) and MORF (MYST4). In vitro acetyltransferase assays indicated that the histone specificity of the 2 complexes differed, with the ING5-HBO1 complex targeting histone H4 and the ING5-MOZ-MORF complex targeting H3.
