Leucine Zipper Protein 2 (LUZP2)
Wu et al. (2003) cloned the mouse leucine zipper protein-2 gene (Luzp2) as part of an aberrant deletion-fusion transcript in the chromosomal interval between Gas2 and Herc2 on chromosome 7. Disruption of Luzp2 by gene targeting did not result in any obvious abnormal phenotypes. Northern blot analysis of adult mouse tissues revealed expression of Luzp2 only in brain and spinal cord. Using the mouse Luzp2 cDNA as a probe, Wu et al. (2003) cloned a human LUZP2 cDNA from a brain cDNA library.
Wu et al. (2003) mapped the human LUZP2 gene to 11p14-p13 by radiation hybrid mapping. They determined that the gene was deleted in some patients with Wilms tumor-aniridia-genitourinary anomalies-mental retardation syndrome (WAGR; 194072).
