Protein Serine Kinase H1 (PSKH1)

[Edit]

Serine/threonine-protein kinase H1

Protein Serine Kinase H1 (PSKH1)
The cDNA for a putative protein serine kinase was originally cloned by homology probing (Hanks, 1987). Substrates for the enzyme are not known. In the course of studying a CpG island located in a 40-kb cosmid insert, Larsen et al. (1993) identified the gene, symbolized PSKH1, in a cluster of 5 unrelated genes on 16q22.1. The PSKH1 gene is transcribed in the opposite direction from that of LCAT, a member of the same cluster.
Tyrosine-specific protein kinases (EC 2.7.10.1 and EC 2.7.10.2) phosphorylate tyrosine amino acid residues, and like serine/threonine-specific kinases are used in signal transduction. They act primarily as growth factor receptors and in downstream signaling from growth factors .
