Purine Rich Element Binding Protein B (PURB)
PURBbinds preferentially to the single strand of the purine-rich element termed PUR, which is present at origins of replication and in gene flanking regions in a variety of eukaryotes from yeasts through humans. Thus, it is implicated in the control of both DNA replication and transcription. Deletion of this gene has been associated with myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myelogenous leukemia.the deduced 324-amino acid Purb protein contains class I and class II repeats and a 23-amino acid PSYC motif that is homologous to the Rb-binding region of SV-40 large T antigen. Purb differs from Pura in that the second class II repeat is interrupted by a glycine-rich region, the N-terminal glycine-rich region is interrupted by a 6-amino acid region, and there is no glutamine-rich C-terminal region.
