UDP Glucuronosyltransferase 2 Family, Polypeptide B15 (UGT2B15)
The UGTs are of major importance in the conjugation and subsequent elimination of potentially toxic xenobiotics and endogenous compounds. UGT2B8 demonstrates reactivity with estriol.the cDNA corresponding to UGT2B8 is 2,094 bp and encodes a protein of 523 amino acids, including a 16-amino acid leader sequence, and has an untranslated 3-prime region of 525 bp.
The steroid-metabolizing isoforms of UDP-glucuronosyltransferase are encoded by multiple genes. By fluorescence in situ hybridization with a YAC containing all 3 genes, Monaghan et al. (1994) localized UGT2B4, UGT2B9, and UGT2B15 to 4q13. They provisionally ordered the genes as UGT2B9--UGT2B4--UGT2B15.
