Phosphatidylinositol Transfer Protein, Membrane Associated 1 (PITPNM1)
PITPNM1 belongs to a family of membrane-associated phosphatidylinositol transfer domain-containing proteins that share homology with the Drosophila retinal degeneration B (rdgB) protein.Northern blot analysis detected ubiquitous expression of PITPNM1, with highest levels in brain, heart, thymus, and peripheral blood leukocytes. The predicted 1,242-amino acid PITPNM1 protein shares 96% and 66% amino acid identity with mouse Pitpnm1 and Drosophila rdgB, respectively. Northern blot analysis showed ubiquitous expression of a 4.4-kb PITPNM1 transcript, with highest levels in brain, skeletal muscle, kidney, and heart. In situ hybridization analysis of murine embryo tissues at various developmental stages revealed high Pitpnm1 expression in the neural retina and in the CNS.
