Kinesin Light Chain 4 (KLC4)
Kinesin Light Chain 4 belongs to the kinesin light chain family.Kinesin is a microtubule-associated force-producing protein that may play a role in organelle transport. The light chain may function in coupling of cargo to the heavy chain or in the modulation of its ATPase activity .
Kinesins are a class of motor proteins found in eukaryotic cells. Kinesins move along microtubule cables powered by the hydrolysis of ATP (thus kinesins are ATPases). The active movement of kinesins supports several cellular functions including mitosis, meiosis and transport of cargo such as axonal transport.Members of the kinesin family vary in shape but the typical kinesin is a protein dimer (molecule pair) consisting of two heavy chains and two light chains.
