Docking Protein 5 (DOK5)
Docking protein 5 is a member of the DOK family of membrane proteins, which are adapter proteins involved in signal transduction. The encoded protein interacts with phosphorylated receptor tyrosine kinases to mediate neurite outgrowth and activation of the MAP kinase pathway. In contrast to other DOK family proteins, this protein does not interact with RASGAP.
DOK5 encodes a deduced 306-amino acid protein with a predicted molecular mass of 35.5 kD. In addition to the PH and PTB domains, DOK5 contains a short C terminus with 3 potential sites for tyrosine phosphorylation. DOK5 is expressed in activated but not resting T cells, suggesting that the expression of DOK5 is regulated upon T cell activation.
