Mediator Complex Subunit 30 (MED30)
The multiprotein TRAP/Mediator complex facilitates gene expression through a wide variety of transcriptional activators. THRAP6 is a component of this complex that appears to be metazoan specific.
The deduced protein contains 178 amino acids. Northern blot analysis detected ubiquitous expression of a 1-kb TRAP25 mRNA, with elevated levels in heart, placenta, and skeletal muscle.TRAP25 is a component of the TRAP/Mediator complex. Immunodepletion of TRAP25 from nuclear extracts simultaneously depleted other TRAP/Mediator subunits, and depletion of Mediator severely compromised its ability to support high levels of transcriptional activation.The International Radiation Hybrid Mapping Consortium mapped the THRAP6 gene to chromosome 9.
